Local data storage locations

Information saved on your device remains in an encrypted state and is only made accessible in decrypted form once you unlock your safe. This decrypted information is temporarily held in the device's memory and is not transferred to any permanent storage. The following are the encrypted at-rest data storage locations.

Data storage - Desktop applications

Windows

  • Standard installation: %AppData%\Bravura Safe

  • Portable: .\bravurasafe-appdata

macOS

  • Standard installations: ~/Library/Application Support/Bravura Safe

  • Mac App Store: ~/Library/Containers/com.bravurasafe.desktop/Data/Library/Application Support/Bravura Safe

Linux

  • Standard installations: ~/.config/Bravura Safe

    Tip

    To override the storage location for your Bravura Safe desktop app data, set the SAFE _APPDATA_DIR environment variable to an absolute path.

Data storage - Browser extensions

Windows

    Note

    Firefox incorporates distinct universally unique identifiers (UUIDs) in the naming of folders related to extension storage to improve security. To find the specific UUID for your Bravura Safe extension, enter about:debugging#/runtime/this-firefox in the address bar.

    Additionally, Firefox provides the option for users to select alternative locations for their profile storage, which would also affect where local Bravura Safe extension information is stored. Above shows the standard default location.

Data storage - Mobile applications

  • iOS: app group for group.com.hitachiid.bravurasafe

  • Android: /data/data/com.hitachi_id.safe/

Data storage - Command Line Interface (CLI)

  • Windows: %AppData%\Bravura Safe CLI
