For a list of supported Windows client workstation versions and for pre-installation requirements, see: Login Assistant: Installing software on workstations

Login Assistant from 12.8.x and below with 12.9.1 and up Bravura Security Fabric instances

When Login Assistant from 12.9.1 and up is installed, the URL is now constructed in the registry to now include the EPHEMERALCOOKIE=1 option, for example in the following format: https://<server>/<instance>/?EPHEMERALCOOKIE=1

For Login Assistant 12.8.x and below, the format for the URL is in the following format without this option, for example: https://<server>/<instance>/

If you are using a Bravura Security Fabric instance from 12.9.1 and up and Login Assistant is from an earlier version, you will need to either:

  • Upgrade Login Assistant on the workstations to the later version

  • Manually update the URL in the registry for the new option if leaving the earlier version of Login Assistant in place

The following are the locations in the registry for where this would need to be updated:

  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Bravura Security\Bravura Security Fabric\Login Assistant\Credential Provider\WebBrowserURL

  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Bravura Security\Bravura Security Fabric\Login Assistant\Login Assistant\cmd

Update the URL to be from this format: https://<server>/<instance>/ and over to this format: https://<server>/<instance>/?EPHEMERALCOOKIE=1

Internet Explorer incompatibilities for Login Assistant 12.4.x and below

Login Assistant programs for version 12.4.x and below are no longer functional, this is due to Internet Explorer now being out of support. When attempting to use these versions, you will see messages and behaviors such as the following:

  • "This website works better in Microsoft Edge" in the browser window.

  • "Support for Internet Explorer ended on June 15, 2022" in the browser window.

  • Several Javascript error prompts may also be shown.

Microsoft end of support for Internet Explorer: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/this-website-works-better-in-microsoft-edge-160fa918-d581-4932-9e4e-1075c4713595 .

Login Assistant 12.4.x and below uses Internet Explorer components for the locked down SKA browser window. This has been replaced with Microsoft Edge WebView2 technologies for Login Assistant 12.5.0 and up.

Therefore, Login Assistant 12.4.x and below must be uninstalled on the workstations and replaced with the Login Assistant 12.5.x or later or the latest version available.

Login Assistant and the local reset extensions

You may sometimes run into issues when using Login Assistant and the Credential Provider tile and you are resetting the user's cached credentials from the locked down SKA browser window that results in the cached credentials not being reset and a link that is not clickable for 'Install chrome extension' is shown.

For example, using versions such as the following (but not limited to):

  • Login Assistant from 12.4.x or higher and Bravura Security Fabric is 12.3.x or below

  • Login Assistant from 12.7.x or higher and Bravura Security Fabric is 12.4.x or below

In these cases, an update may be needed for pluginCtrl.js for Bravura Security Fabric to allow for the cached credentials to be reset correctly. Contact support@bravurasecurity.com for further information.
