Auto-fill using a mobile app

Auto-fill logins on iOS

The Bravura Safe iOS app can be configured to auto-populate secure login credentials for faster logins.

Most auto-fill scenarios rely on login item URLs.

Note

Custom fields are not currently supported for mobile auto-fill.

There are two methods available:

  • Keyboard auto-fill: (Recommended ) Makes auto-fill available in any iOS app, including web browsers, via a keyboard button.

  • Browser app extension: Makes auto-fill available only in web browser apps via the Share menu.

  1. On your mobile device's iOS home screen, tap Settings.

  2. Tap Passwords > AutoFill Passwords.

  3. Toggle the AutoFill Passwords switch to On.

  4. Under ALLOW FILLING FROM:, tap Bravura Safe.

    A check-mark indicates that Bravura Safe is selected.

Test keyboard auto-fill:

  1. Open an app or website for which you have a saved login item and where you are not currently signed in.

  2. Tap a credential field on the login screen.

    A keyboard slides up with a matching login or with a Passwords option.

  3. If a matching login is displayed above the keyboard, tap it to auto-fill credentials.

  4. If Passwords is displayed above the keyboard, tap it to browse your safe and select the login item to auto-fill.

  5. Proceed with logging in to the website.

This feature makes your Bravura Safe login items accessible from Safari, Chrome, and other browsers supported on your mobile device.

Activate browser app extension auto-fill in Bravura Safe

  1. Open the Bravura Safe mobile app.

  2. Tap Settings.

  3. Under AUTO-FILL, tap App Extension.

  4. Tap Activate app extension.

  5. From the menu that slides up, tap Bravura Safe .

    A green Extension Activated! message indicates success.

  6. Tap Back and then Close to return to Settings.

Test browser app extension auto-fill

  1. From a browser on your mobile device, navigate to a website for which:

    • you have a login item saved in Bravura Safe

    • you are not signed in

  2. Tap your mobile device Share icon.

  3. From the list of actions, locate and tap Bravura Safe .

    Note

    If Unlock with biometrics is enabled, the first time you tap this option you are prompted for your Master Password.

  4. A Bravura Safe screen slides up showing matching login items.

    Note

    If no login items are listed, no items in your safe have a matching URI.

  5. Tap a matching login item to auto-fill credentials.

  6. Proceed with logging in to the website.

Auto-fill logins on Android

The Bravura Safe Android app can be configured to auto-populate secure login credentials for faster logins.

There are a few different ways to enable Bravura Safe auto-fill, depending on your Android version:

  • Auto-fill service - requires Android 8+

    Overlays a pop-up when the device is focused on an input that has a matching Login item. When your Bravura Safe is unlocked, auto-fill or open your Bravura Safe.

  • Inline Auto-fill -requires Android 11+

    The Auto-fill Service overlay is moved the keyboard.

  • Accessibility - all Android versions.

    Overlaps a pop-up to open your Bravura Safe to browse matching login items when the device is focused on an input.

  • Draw-Over - required for Accessibility on Android 6+

    Overlaps a pop-up to open your Bravura Safe to browse matching login items when the device is focused on an input.

To enable the auto-fill service:

  1. Open your Bravura Safe Android app and tap Settings.

  2. Tap the Auto-fill Services option.

  3. Toggle the Auto-fill Service option to On.

    You are redirected to the Android Settings screen.

  4. From the Autofill service list, tap Bravura Safe.

    You are prompted to confirm that you trust the Bravura Safe Android app.

  5. Tap OK to allow the Bravura Safe app to read content on the screen so it knows when to offer auto-fill.

Note

This feature requires Android 11+, a compatible IME (Input Method Editor) and Auto-fill Service to be enabled.

Inline auto-fill is enabled by default when the Bravura Safe app is installed. Inline auto-fill can be disabled only when the Auto-fill service is turned on.

To enable inline auto-fill:

  1. Open the Bravura Safe mobile app on your Android device.

  2. Tap Settings.

  3. Tap Auto-fill Services.

  4. Toggle the Use Inline Autofill option to On.

    Note

    If the auto-fill overlay is not moved to your keyboard, find out if your IME supports Inline.

To enable the accessibility method:

  1. Open your Android Bravura Safe app and tap Settings.

  2. Tap Auto-fill Services.

  3. Toggle the Use Accessibility option to On.

  4. Tap Accept on the Accessibility Service Disclosure agreement.

    You are redirected to Android Settings.

  5. Tap Installed apps.

  6. Tap Bravura Safe and toggle the option from Off to On.

    You are prompted to "Allow Bravura Safe to have full control of your phone". This allows Bravura Safe to read screen content and to offer auto-fill.

  7. Tap Allow.

    Note

    To use Accessibility on Android 6+, Draw-Over is required.

Draw-Over is required to use Accessibility with Android 6+.

Note

In order to complete the following steps, you must first enable Accessibility.

To enable the Draw-Over method:

  1. Open the Bravura Safe mobile app on your Android device.

  2. Tap Settings.

  3. Tap Auto-fill Services.

  4. Toggle the Use accessibility option to On.

    You are redirected to Android Settings.

  5. Tap Installed apps.

  6. Tap Bravura Safe from the list.

  7. Toggle the option to On and tap Allow when asked to give full control of your phone to Bravura Safe.

  8. Return to Bravura Safe accessibility settings.

  9. Toggle the Use draw-over option to On.

    You are redirected to Android Settings.

  10. Toggle the Bravura Safe option to On.
