Activating event action options

Preparation

Before activating event actions, do the following:

  1. Determine the event, on the Bravura Security Fabric server, that you want to trigger an action, the action you want to take when the event occurs, and what ticket system you want to connect to.

See System options that can trigger external programs for a list of events.

  2. Install any necessary client software on the Bravura Security Fabric server.

  3. If the action includes sending email, ensure that the email server and related settings have been configured.

    Configure the following settings:

    MAIL SERVER

(required) The name of the server that handles email.

    MAIL SERVER PORT

The port number for the mail server. The default is 25.

    MAIL AUTH LOGIN

The login ID used to authenticate against an SMTP server.

    MAIL AUTH PASSWORD

The login ID used to authenticate against an SMTP server.

    RECIPIENT EMAIL

(required) The email address of the Bravura Security Fabric administrator who should receive notification of events relating to the running of the server.

    SENDER EMAIL

(required) The email address that will appear as the sender of emails.

  4. Determine the program or target type that you want to handle the event.

Available programs are located in the interface directory and start with px. Most of the programs are designed to integrate with specific support software; for example, pxassyst is designed to work with Axios Assyst. Programs are listed in Table 1, “Interface programs.

If you do not see the program for your support system, you may need to run the Connector Pack setup program, and ensure that the system is selected.

  5. If configuring events that trigger ticket updates, set up the ticket system target systems in Bravura Security Fabric .

  6. Use the Configure event (ITSM) module to configure the event

  7. Locate the event system variable on the appropriate configuration page,

System variables are listed in Manage the system > Maintenance > System variables , and also various configuration menus listed in System options that can trigger external programs . The description for configurable events begins with "Program to execute …" , and each one has a Configure event button.

  8. Use the Configure event (ITSM) module to configure certain ticket target updates and email notification,

    Or,

Add the name of the program for scripted configuration.

Use the Configure event (ITSM) module

The Configure event (ITSM) module provides a GUI for configuring event actions. All events that can be configured have a Configure event button that connects to the console, where you can use a template to create email or add a program to run.

Certain ticket system interfaces can be configured using this console, without the need to edit a PSLang configuration script. When you use the Configure event (ITSM) module, Bravura Security Fabric automatically modifies the appropriate sample configuration file and copies it to the script directory. This applies if you want to:

  • Send email

  • Update tickets

Bravura Security Fabric currently supports configuration via the Configure event (ITSM) module for Remedy Action Request System 7.5.x, 7.6.x and 8.0. For other interface programs, you can use the Configure event (ITSM) module to activate the event action option, then write a configuration script for the program. You can configure multiple programs for the same event.

Only super users or product administrators with the “Configure modules” privilege can access the Configure event (ITSM) module. See Preparation for other requirements.

Note

The interface is provided by the itsm program, included in the <instance>\cgi-bin\ directory. Unlike other web modules the itsm console does not allow or require any configuration via the modules menu in the Manage the system (PSA) module. It is not related to Remedy Action Request System ITSM, which is supported by the agtrem-itsm connector.

You access the console by clicking the Configure event button for the System options that can trigger external programs , or in Manage the system > Maintenance > System variables. An example is shown below.
