Preparation

Before you can target FrontRange HEAT for Customers, you must:

  1. Install FrontRange HEAT client software.

  2. Set up a target system administrator.

  3. Set up at least one template account.

Installing client software

To install the minimum client software for FrontRange HEAT for administrators:

  1. Run HEAT setup, select to install "Incident Logging".

  2. Ensure that the HEAT API files are in the path (typically found in c:\Program Files\HEAT). Reboot the Bravura Security Fabric server if you have just added this to your system path.

  3. Create an ODBC System DSN entry pointing to your HEAT server and ensure that you can successfully connect to it.

  4. Ensure that you are able to connect to the server:

    1. Select your configured ODBC data source.

    2. Enter your SQL credentials

    3. Confirm that you want to "Automatically use this database User ID and Password in the future".

    4. Test the connection.

Setting up a target system administrator

Bravura Security Fabric uses a designated account on FrontRange HEAT for Customers to perform Bravura Security Fabric operations. You can use the default account, or create an administrative account for Management Suite as described in this section. A FrontRange HEAT Administrator role is sufficient to provide the operations available

To create a dedicated administrative account for Management Suite:

  1. Log into FrontRange HEAT Administrator as a system administrator

  2. Under System Security, click Edit Users.

  3. Click Add.

  4. Under the General tab, fill in the information as appropriate. For Security Role, select Administrator.

  5. Click Apply.

Creating a template account

Bravura Security Fabric uses template accounts as models or "blueprints" for creating new accounts in FrontRange HEAT for Customers. To set up a template for a FrontRange HEAT customer (account):

  1. Go to http://<HEAT server>/HeatSelfService/default/en-us/login.asp.

  2. Click Add user.

  3. Fill in the required information.

    Note the generated Employee ID.

  4. Click Submit.

Consult your FrontRange HEAT documentation for more information.

Targeting FrontRange HEAT for Customers

For each FrontRange HEAT for Customers system, add a target system in Bravura Security Fabric (Manage the System > Resources > Target systems):

  • Type is FrontRange HEAT (Customers) , in the Help Desk Systems section.

  • Address uses the following options:

Data Source Name The ODBC data source name for FrontRange HEAT

    (key: dsn)

Filter Expression A predicate from a SQL WHERE clause that can be used to restrict which users are listed by the connector. The column names used in the predicate correspond to the columns in the HEAT database’s Profile table. Don’t include the WHERE keyword in the predicate. Since this expression is passed directly to the DBMS, you can use AND, OR and such.

    (key: filter)

Only list users having a valid login ID When true this tells the connector to only list users that have login ids assigned to them. Not all HEAT Customers actually have login IDs, so use this setting to restrict listing to those users. Note that there are different types of HEAT Customers: Employees, Company, Department and so on.

    (key: loginid_reqd)

The full list of target parameters is explained in Target System Options .
