Example: Segments by group

This example demonstrates how to add a user class to segment users by managed group:

  1. Click Manage the system > Policies > User classes.

  2. Click Add new….

  3. Type an ID and Description to search on and identify the user class.

  4. Select the "[Shared] Policy type.

  5. Click Add.

  6. Type any placeholder value for the ID and an appropriate Description to identify the participant; for example USERID .

  7. Click Add.

  8. Select the Criteria tab.

  9. Click Add new… in the group membership criteria section.

  10. Choose the appropriate value from the Membership drop-down list. Select:

    • Required – to include users who belong to the specified group in the user class.

    • Disallowed – to include users who do not belong to the specified group in the user class.

  11. Search for, or type the ID of the Target to which the group belongs.

  12. Search for the ID of the Managed group.

  13. Click Add.

  14. Click the Test tab to test a specific ID, or list all users who fit the criteria.

  15. If required, repeat the above procedure to add additional criteria to the user class.

    Note

    Continue to test the user class membership after you add each criteria. This prevents mistakes in the class being rendered irreversible if a faulty user class is used for certification.
