Requesting access via the Shell Extension

This section shows you how to use the Bravura Security Shell Extension to request access to network shares.

The Bravura Security Shell Extension works in conjunction with Bravura Identity to allow efficient access to protected network resources, for example – folders/shares and managed Active Directory groups.

Once installed, the Shell Extension is embedded into the operating system. Instead of logging into Bravura Identity , you can request access by right-clicking, or double clicking on the protected resource.

If you are unsure whether the Bravura Security Shell Extension is installed on your local workstation, check with your Administrator.

  2. Choose one of the following ways to request access:

    • Right-click the share and click Smart Open, or simply double-click the share. A message opens asking if you want to request permission. Click Yes.

    • Right-click the share and click Request Access.

    The Bravura Security Fabric launches.

  3. Enter your password and click Login.

  4. Click the network share to which you want access.

  5. If there are multiple groups available, check the box next to the group you want to join.

    Click Continue.

  6. Click OK in the pop-up window to confirm submitting the request.

Bravura Security Fabric displays a notification stating that your request was successfully submitted. Click the View request link next to the message to view changes in the request.
